I recently spoke at the SSF Annual Psychic Fair on this topic:

When we think of yoga, we typically think about stretching our bodies or tying ourselves up in strange positions. Yoga is actually an eight limbed path to spiritual enlightenment. Reena will be discussing these eight limbs- restraints (non-harming, truthfulness, non-stealing, conservation of energy, and nonattachment), observances (purity, contentment, discipline, spiritual study, and surrender), yoga postures, breathing, withdrawal of senses, concentration, meditation and enlightenment- in terms of how we can practice them both on and off our yoga mats. How can we practice yoga to gain a deeper connection to spirit in our everyday lives? As Swami Vishnudevananda put it, “Health is wealth, Peace of mind is happiness, Yoga shows the way.”
